Spanish
Wells Plantation is a peninsula of residential homes and homesites
with water and golf course views. Created for development
in 1970, the name goes back to the early Spanish explorers
who discovered a fresh water source on the South Atlantic
coast. The Yemasee Indian word for "sweet water"
is Calibogue, and the ancient well still flows today.

Some
of the most magnificent Hilton Head Island homes are found
in Spanish Wells Plantation. Just over 350 acres and only
191 homesites, one immediately notices the large parcels of
property the stately homes sit upon. Properties on the golf
course sell for $1 million and up, and the waterfront homes
start at just under $3 million and soar to $12 million plus!
From the waters of Broad Creek to Calibogue Sound, many residents
in Spanish Wells enjoy their own deep water boat docks. There
is a 9-hole executive golf course and clay tennis courts for
use by the owners.
